Safflower seed oil is a light botanical oil with a particularly useful place in cleansing. Rich in unsaturated fatty acids - and, depending on the variety, especially high in linoleic acid - it gives skin softness and slip without the weight of a richer oil.

We use it in Unveil Oil-to-Milk Cleansing Oil, where that combination is exactly what we need.

What does safflower seed oil do?

Pressed from the seeds of Carthamus tinctorius, safflower oil acts primarily as an emollient. It helps soften and condition the skin and naturally contains tocopherols and other plant compounds.

Its light feel makes it particularly useful when you want the cleansing ability and glide of an oil without creating an excessively rich formula.

What about oily or combination skin?

An oil cleanser does not have to mean a greasy cleanser. In an emulsifying formula such as Unveil, the oils dissolve makeup, sunscreen, sebum and other oil-soluble impurities; water then turns the cleanser milky and allows the mixture to rinse away.

That makes the finished cleanser useful across dry, combination and oily skin types. What matters is the complete formulation, not the fact that the word 'oil' appears on the bottle.

Why safflower works in Unveil

A good cleansing oil needs to spread easily, dissolve stubborn products effectively and work beautifully with its emulsifying system. We combine safflower with camellia and Kalahari melon seed oils to create that balance.

Safflower brings lightweight emollience and excellent slip. Camellia adds a softer, more cushioning character, while Kalahari melon seed oil keeps the blend elegant and light.
