Posted by Kri Skincare on

At Krī Skincare, we take our time to source the highest quality, premium oils that provide the most benefit to your skin. It's what we're known for! Our popular Organic Rosehip Oil is certified organic, cold-pressed, unrefined and completely unadulterated. Let's discover its benefits in more detail.

What Is Rosehip Seed Oil?

Rosehip seed oil derives from rosa canina (also known as dog rose), a thorny climbing species of rose. Seeds are extracted from the hips of the rose after its flowers have pollinated. The resulting oil is nutrient-dense and has a grassy scent that captures the earthy nature of the fruit.

It's been used for its healing qualities since ancient times. From China to America, people turned to the power of this nurturing ingredient and utilised its gentle properties to treat everything from dog bites to muscle cramps.

Our rosehip oil is sourced from southern Bulgaria, where the unique climate and soil condition is perfect for growing healthy roses.

Benefits of Rosehip Seed Oil

Reduces the appearance of wrinkles

Research suggests that rosehip seed oil has great potential for minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles thanks to antioxidants (such as tocopherol) and fatty acids (like linolenic and oleic acid) within the ingredient. Not only is it great for smoothing texture, but it also has been shown to offer significant improvement for scarring.

Boosts elasticity

One reason why rosehip oil is such a great ingredient for mature and dry skin, in particular, is that it can slow the creation of an enzyme called MMP-1 which is responsible for damaging collagen. Some trials even show it can minimise stretch marks and improve firmness.

Repairing

Rosehip seed oil has historically been used for its healing properties. It is no surprise that studies back this up and reveal that it can repair the skin's barrier. Full of vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, and K, it improves dry, flaky, and tight patches, plus it helps increase hydration. The moisturising oil is non-greasy and offers a dose of important vitamins that prevent photo-ageing by neutralising free radicals and soothe inflammation which assists conditions like eczema, acne, and dermatitis.

Brightens dull complexion

Rosehip seed oil provides a great way to restore glowing skin as it includes vitamin C, lycopene and beta carotene which have been shown to brighten skin. Further research suggests rosehip seed oil may also reduce the chances of hyperpigmentation and repair damage caused by the sun as it contains retinoids that inhibit melanin production.

When To Use Rosehip Seed Oil

If you suffer from dry, flaky, itchy skin, you're worried about premature ageing, or you're looking to improve your complexion, rosehip seed oil is a great choice.

As it's gentle and packed full of beneficial compounds, this natural ingredient is suitable for all skin types and can be applied day or night.

We recommend using it at night as the very final step in your skincare ritual. Allow it to fully absorb (to avoid any pillow stain) and let the nutrients penetrate your skin while you sleep.
