At the heart of this formula is THDA, an oil-soluble form of Vitamin C chosen for its stability, versatility and elegant skin feel.
Unlike traditional L-ascorbic acid serums, which require an acidic, water-based formula, THDA can be used in a water-free, oil-based formulation. This allows us to create a Vitamin C serum that feels silky and comfortable on the skin, without the characteristic low-pH formulation of traditional Vitamin C products.
We've paired THDA with Bakuchiol, a plant-derived antioxidant that complements Vitamin C and brings its own benefits to the formula. Together, they provide antioxidant care while helping skin look brighter, smoother and more even.

THDA and Bakuchiol are carried in a blend of broccoli seed oil and Kalahari melon seed oil, chosen for their lightweight feel and skin-conditioning properties.
Broccoli seed oil is naturally rich in fatty acids and has a silky, elegant texture that gives the serum its characteristic slip without feeling heavy.
Kalahari melon seed oil is a lightweight, fast-absorbing oil naturally rich in linoleic acid and other fatty acids. It helps condition the skin while complementing the formula's overall lightweight feel.
Together, the oils create a comfortable base for the Vitamin C and Bakuchiol, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and nourished without a heavy or greasy finish.

Vitamin C is a powerful skincare ingredient, but the form you use matters.
Pure L-ascorbic acid is highly effective but can be challenging to formulate because it is sensitive to oxidation and typically requires an acidic environment.
Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is different.
It is a lipid-soluble Vitamin C derivative with much greater formulation stability than L-ascorbic acid. Its oil-soluble nature allows it to sit naturally within this anhydrous serum, without the need for the low-pH formulation used by many traditional Vitamin C products.
The result is a Vitamin C serum designed around stability, potency and comfort.

Vitamin C is valued for its antioxidant and brightening properties, while Bakuchiol has emerging clinical evidence for improving the appearance of wrinkles, pigmentation and skin texture.

No. Bakuchiol and retinol are different molecules. Retinol is a vitamin A derivative with a much larger body of clinical evidence behind it.
Bakuchiol has its own emerging evidence base and is particularly interesting for its antioxidant properties and potential to improve the appearance of photoaged skin.
We use Bakuchiol because we value what Bakuchiol itself brings to the formula - not because we consider it a replacement for retinol.
Is this as effective as a retinol serum?
We don't make that claim. The evidence for Bakuchiol is promising, but it is not as extensive as the evidence for retinoids. This serum is designed around Vitamin C and Bakuchiol as two complementary cosmetic actives, rather than as a substitute for a retinoid.
Can I use this with retinol?
Yes, provided your skin tolerates the combination. There is no need to use every active at once, however. If your routine already contains retinol or other potentially irritating actives, introduce new products gradually.

My skin loves this. I put it on straight after rinsing my face in the morning, and my skin just soaks it up. It’s a light oil that leaves your skin with a beautiful, non-greasy glow. If your skin finds ascorbic acid too irritating (as mine does at the moment), then this THD ascorbate form as a brilliant alternative.
Best Vitamin C I've tried on pretty much all criteria i.e., texture and how it spreads and sits on skin, scent, colour. I'm ok with the price point too given the above. Onto my third or fourth bottle... in terms of effectiveness it's always difficult as you don't know what you'd look like if you weren't using it, but I do feel it does a solid job.
Nourishing and brightening.
I purchased this product and have used it for a month. Upon opening, I smelled a sort of rancid oil smell. I am a person who makes my own beauty products and definitely know what old and spoiled oil smells like. Nonetheless, I gave it a shot because it was expensive. This product dried my skin out and gave me some acne. I have tried other the Coochie all products that made my skin look hydrated, plump and glow, so I was disappointed in this product.

The distinct, sulfur-like smell you noticed is characteristic of broccoli seed oil, which is a key ingredient known for its unique fatty acid profile. I love the texture and consistency of this serum, unlike other vitamin Cs which I've found to be sticky/tacky and unable to spread easily across the skin. While I don't believe that's a problem in terms of product effectiveness (rather it speaks to how it's reacting with your skin), I haven't find the other formulas I've previously used enjoyable to use. It also has a subtle and pleasant smell, again, unlike other formulas I've tried which have had an unpleasant and strong odour. I'm nearing the end of my first bottle and am going to purchase a second one. It's probably too early to tell the results and I have changed other products recently too, however I feel positive about it so far. The skin care expert I see recommended this product, noting it's ingredients are good, again, unlike some other products out there which don't really have the right concentrations of the right ingredients to be effective... so I feel my choice has been well informed.

Have been using for a few weeks, twice a day. Absorbs quickly mixed with hyauralonic acid. No noticeable improvements but too soon to expect that. Will try the 20% next time

It took a long time to find this type of Vitamin C as it's supposed to be one of the most effective and having bacuchiol was an added bonus as I wanted to try a natural retinol alternative . It also fitted my brief of having very few ingredients and being naturally derived. It goes on easily and should last a long time as a little goes a long way. Like another reviewer mentioned, I don't like the smell on application but it does soon wear off. As for it's effect on my skin it's too early to say.
