We make more with less

We believe good skincare should be effective, considered and easy to live with. Our formulas are deliberately concise, built around a tightly curated selection of ingredients chosen for a clear purpose. We don't add ingredients simply to make a formula appear more impressive; we're guided by evidence, efficacy and simplicity.

That same principle extends beyond formulation. From the ingredients we source and the packaging we choose to the businesses we work with and the environmental organisations we support, we believe doing more with less is simply a better way to make skincare.

Krī (pronounced kree) – क्रि – is a Sanskrit term meaning to undertake an action or deed. It's a fitting name for a business built on the belief that values mean more when they're put into practice.

"Krī is the skincare brand I wanted to find as a consumer: effective, evidence-led formulas made by a business that takes its wider responsibilities seriously. What we make matters, but so does how we make it." -Rupa, Krī Skincare founder

Responsible Formulas

The environmental impact of a skincare product doesn't begin and end with its packaging. What goes down the drain or is washed from our skin eventually enters the wider environment, so the raw materials we formulate with matter too.

Biodegradability is therefore an important part of our formulation philosophy. We select ingredients with their environmental fate in mind and favour raw materials that can break down rather than persist in the environment after use.

Vegan & Cruelty Free

Every Krī product is vegan, and always has been. We formulate without animal-derived ingredients and our products are manufactured in the United Kingdom.

We do not sell our skincare in markets where animal testing is required, and Krī remains independently owned.

For us, animal welfare isn't a separate marketing initiative. It is simply one of the standards we have chosen to build into the business from the beginning.

Thoughtful Packaging

Packaging protects a product, keeps it safe to use and allows it to be dispensed properly, so eliminating it altogether isn't realistic. Our responsibility is to use it thoughtfully and reduce unnecessary waste wherever we reasonably can.

We continue to assess our packaging as materials, recycling infrastructure and better alternatives develop. Our aim isn't to pretend packaging has no environmental impact, but to make considered choices and reduce that impact wherever we can.

Certified B Corporation

Krī Skincare is a Certified B Corporation.

B Corp certification independently assesses businesses across areas including governance, community, customers and the environment. For us, that external scrutiny matters. Environmental and social responsibility shouldn't depend solely on what a company says about itself.

Certification gives us a framework against which our practices can be measured and holds us accountable to standards that extend beyond the products we sell.

We're particularly proud that Krī became the first British skincare brand founded and led by a woman of colour to achieve B Corp certification.

But certification isn't an end point. It forms part of our commitment to operating Krī as a responsible, transparent business and continuing to improve as the company evolves.

Kri Skincare ethics

Restoring and protecting the natural world

Since 2021, we have donated at least 1% of our annual product revenue to World Land Trust, supporting conservation beyond our own direct business operations.

Our contributions support World Land Trust's work with conservation partners to restore and protect threatened habitats, including its Plant a Tree programme. This work helps restore tropical forest, create and reconnect habitat for wildlife and support the long-term protection of important ecosystems.

We chose to make our commitment a proportion of product revenue rather than a discretionary donation because it means conservation is connected directly to the business we do. When Krī grows, our contribution grows with it.

Protecting existing ecosystems and restoring damaged ones are both important responses to biodiversity loss and climate change. Supporting organisations with the expertise to carry out that work is one of the ways we can extend our environmental responsibility beyond the immediate footprint of our own products.

Supply Chain

Our environmental standards don't stop at our own door. The businesses that produce our ingredients, bottles, cartons and other components form part of Krī's environmental footprint too.

We deliberately maintain a relatively small group of trusted suppliers and consider their environmental practices, certifications and standards when deciding whom we work with.

Our UK packaging supplier is ISO 14001 certified, an internationally recognised environmental management standard requiring organisations to identify, manage and continually improve their environmental performance.

Our cartons are also manufactured in the UK by a Certified B Corporation using World Land Trust Carbon Balanced Packaging, which supports the protection of threatened habitats while accounting for the carbon associated with the paper and board used.

These details may not be particularly visible when a bottle of Krī arrives in your bathroom, but they matter. A product's impact extends through the businesses and materials involved in making it, and we believe those choices are part of our responsibility too.

Considered skincare, considered business

We don't believe any skincare business can claim to have no environmental impact. Products require ingredients, energy, packaging and transport.

Our approach is to acknowledge that reality and make better decisions wherever we have influence: formulate deliberately, avoid unnecessary ingredients, consider biodegradability, reduce packaging waste, choose responsible suppliers, remain vegan and cruelty-free, submit our practices to independent scrutiny, and commit a proportion of our revenue to conservation.

It's not a separate sustainability strategy sitting alongside Krī. It's how we believe the business should be run.
